The City is reconstructing 3rd Street from W. Pioneer Avenue through the Broadway Intersection. Rognlin’s, Inc of Aberdeen was awarded the construction contract for the job and will begin work on May 20th, 2019. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete by the end of June. Traffic will be re-routed throughout the project.
Why is the City Reconstructing this Section of 3rd Street?
The City needs to replace a 65-year old Asbestos Cement (AC) water main under the pavement and the driving surface is badly deteriorated. The City will also update curb ramps and part of the storm water system.
The End Result
One more section of old AC pipe will be replaced and the driving surface will be restored. Stormwater catch basins will be updated and access to the sidewalks for disabled pedestrians will be improved significantly.
